A solo-duet created and performed by Flying Solo- and Fringe award winner Ester Natzijl (formerly with Netherlands Dance Theatre, and puppeteer with Duda Paiva Company and Ulrike Quade Company). A fascinating mix of puppetry, theatre, and dance, the performance is about a woman faced with her fears and desires, carving out a tender, entrancing performance of horror and humour, with an animated and sometimes extremely evil avatar. Press Quotes "[A]... mesmerizing, beautifully produced performance that provides different views of what a relationship can be, that shifts perspectives by shifting our view on what is alive and what is not, who is charge of whom? Some called it sublime, some called it surreal, some called it superb." - Amsterdam Fringe Festival Jury, 2015 Production Information W A T C H I N G began its life by winning a pitch of the Flying Solo Festival (rightaboutnowinc.com) in cooperation with Contact Theatre Manchester. With a further development subsidy from the Amsterdam Fonds Kunsten (AFK) and Stichting Muzenis, it was developed for the Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2015 where it won the BRONZE AWARD. W A T C H I N G has subsequently been performed all over Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Manchester, Arnhem, Limburg, Grahamstown (SA) and Meppel, and is Natzijl's debut as a solo puppet theatre-maker.
